Housing Resources and Legal/Utility Assistance

  • Families for Families (F4F): a rental assistance fund aimed at helping housing insecure families live through the COVID-19 pandemic without the fear of eviction by providing a portion of the family’s rent burden for the year (visit https://fhfofgno.org/). 

  • Rental Assistance Fund: Assistance is open to individuals whose household income has been reduced as a result of COVID-19 and that are not receiving rental assistance through other organizations (visit https://ready.nola.gov/incident/coronavirus/city-of-new-orleans-covid-19-rental-assistance-pro/).

  • Sewerage & Water Board “Water Help Program,” Administered through Total Community Action: The Water Help / Plumbing Assistance Program assists elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged customers in paying their water bills and making minor plumbing repairs (visit https://www.swbno.org/CustomerService/PaymentAssistance).

  • Entergy New Orleans has implemented an Enhanced Customer Assistance Plan that includes flexible options extending time to pay and waiving late fees with payment arrangements (visit https://www.entergy.com/mypaymentoptions/).  

Mental Health Services

  • Keeping Calm through COVID Hotline: connects you to trained, compassionate counselors who can offer support and who can direct you to mental health and substance abuse counseling services. Call 1-866-310-7977 Trained counselors are available 24/7. All calls are confidential.

  • Center for Hope Children and Family Services: provides free Telehealth Counseling & 24/7 crisis hotline. If you are experiencing fear, stress & anxiety please call (504)-241-6006. Calls are confidential.

  • Metropolitan Crisis Response Team at (504) 826-2675. This team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in Orleans, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard Parishes. Someone may be having a behavioral health crisis when they are: in danger of hurting themselves or others, in need of emergency housing, having an alcohol or drug crisis, and a person with mental illness feeling overwhelmed or unstable.

  • Children’s Bureau at (504) 525-2366 The Children’s Bureau of New Orleans (CBNO) is dedicated to the mental health needs of children in our community. We provide crisis intervention and grief & trauma counseling to children and families through a team of specially trained clinicians. Our mission is focused on the city’s most vulnerable young residents.

Summer PEBT FAQ

Public Records Request

Homer Plessy Community Schools will make all reasonable efforts to respond to requests for access to public records as soon as possible and in accordance with the provisions of the Public Records Law, La. R.S. 44:1 et seq. However, large requests will take longer to collect and process because all requests must be reviewed for exceptions to the Public Records Law before they can be inspected, copied, and/or reproduced. Notice will be provided to you in all instances where the public nature of the records is in question.

Pursuant to La. R.S. 44:32(C)(1)(a), Homer Plessy Community Schools collects fees for the copying and production of public records. Prior to copying and production, Homer Plessy Community Schools will produce the records only upon complete payment of the required fees. The base fees are as follows:

  • $0.25 per page for paper copies. Two-sided documents are considered two pages.

  • $0.25 per page for PDF documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Word documents.

  • $10.00 for any other electronic documents that must be provided on a thumb drive or compact disc.

Additional service fees may apply depending on the scope of the request.
