At Plessy we value:

  • Our Students: Plessy Schools offer children an opportunity for academic and artistic excellence. Unlike some other schools in our area, Plessy is an open enrollment school and welcomes all students! While we understand that no two learners are alike, all Plessy students will be encouraged, mentored, and inspired throughout their educational journey.

  • Our Families: Family participation in school is essential and takes many forms. The exchange of ideas between families and teachers is vital to the development of a learning community. Families have the potential to bring vitality and richness to the school by contributing distinctive life experiences and shared wisdom.

  • Our Teachers: Our highly skilled teachers not only stand out in the classrooms, they often receive standing ovations throughout the city! We are fortunate that Plessy’s teachers are so deeply entrenched in the NOLA Arts scene and often can be found playing with the Louisiana Philharmonic, DJing on Bourbon Street, or live painting a wedding. These innovative and creative teachers inspire our kids to dream BIG!

  • Our Community: Plessy serves all of Orleans Parish but is rooted in the Bywater, French Quarter, Marigny, St. Claude, and Tremé neighborhoods. Our campuses flourish, in part, thanks to the resources and culture of our community.

  • Our Diversity: We aim for our hallways to reflect the diversity seen on the sidewalks of New Orleans neighborhoods as we pass each other in greeting. We see diversity as a powerful tool in a child’s education. Our aim is that students, teachers, and parents reflect the racial and cultural diversity of New Orleans and everyone feels safe to be who they uniquely are while on the Plessy campuses.

  • Our Impact: We believe that our students, families, and staff are change agents and therefore emphasize the importance of citizenship and community engagement. These students are the future leaders of New Orleans and beyond.
